Lying-in-state is an honour which is accorded to sovereigns,
current or past queen consorts. Since 1910, when King Edward VII lay-in-state in
British parliament's Westminster Hall, all sovereigns have lain in state at the
historical 900-year old hall.
The funeral service of Queen Elizabeth II will be at
London's Westminster Abbey on September 19. The queen's final resting place
will be the King George VI memorial chapel which is an annex to the main chapel.
