Britain's longest-reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Sept. 8 at the age of 96. Draped in the royal standard and topped with Imperial State Crown, her coffin left the Buckingham Palace for the final time on Wednesday to Westminster Hall, where she will be Lying-in-state

Lying-in-state is an honour which is accorded to sovereigns, current or past queen consorts. Since 1910, when King Edward VII lay-in-state in British parliament's Westminster Hall, all sovereigns have lain in state at the historical 900-year old hall.

The funeral service of Queen Elizabeth II will be at London's Westminster Abbey on September 19. The queen's final resting place will be the King George VI memorial chapel which is an annex to the main chapel.
